Where we are in the town we quite regularly get the air ambulance helicopter circling over us. They will generally go down in one of 2 parks, the sports ground or if a road accident, on the A303. This morning they flew around and circled a couple of times directly above us. Probably no more than 100 meters above us. Before dropping down just beyond the front of our shop. Probably going down on the football/rugby pitches. The pigeons were out, old and young, sat on the house roof. They don’t seem to worry about it though thank goodness. They do look up and watch it but don’t take off. We do tend to get it a couple of times a week. We aren’t far from where they fly from.

We get them land here as well, on the school grounds, a big grassed area and on the M6 or Black Country route which runs across the road about 100 yards away from us

They are certainly some very accomplished pilots bring these helicopters down in tight conditions. I have a friend that I swam and played waterpolo with who was an air ambulance pilot. Prior to doing this he had been a test pilot in the RAF.

We are only about a mile in a straight line from the airport. A small, regional affair.
We get a lot of rescue helicopters and police choppers coming over.
They are an amazing machine, but I have no desire to go in one.
As I read somewhere, "A helicopter is an inherently unstable device, whose sole aim is to reduce itself to atoms and it's occupants to corpses".
Greetings from the land down under. :D
