Well looking at the Solent Fed website 879 Combine birds arrived safely in Perth Yesterday afternoon, unfortunately due to heavy cloud it looks like there is not going to be a liberation today 😔 Due to Racing tomorrow at the Lib site the birds are potentially going to be moved in land to Crieff, however as tomorrow's forecast is looking unsettled too they might the decision to bring the birds back closer to home 😣
Very frustrating but I guess that's distance racing for you and the birds welfare has to come first !!

Birds are on the way back to Darlington as bad weather is forecast tomorrow at Perth, if they can't get there then it will be weatherby ,they will be going to Perth on next race.

I've sent a email to your secretary's can you let them now asap, replacing Elgin with a Perth in 2 weeks, as the solent will not have the support to go Elgin so hopefully we can still get the Perth, tell your secretary's asap please then I can pass on to lee

Its very frustrating that we've had to come back to another short one, all that preparation wasted !! I know I harp on about the past but way back then they'd have just held the birds until they could get them up !!!
Sadly the decision to swap Elgin for Perth in two weeks to me just shows that the support for distance racing just isn't there any more.

The trouble is that everyone seem to have busy lives and want these races over and done with as soon as possible. I think a lot of the enjoyment has gone out of the sport. I have always worked a 6 or 7 day week so have always had limited time to sit and wait for pigeons so preferred the longer races where birds wouldn’t arrive until after I had finished work.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.

I really thought we would get the distance this year, but its a big fat NO! I've NOW made the move to sprint/middle pigeons. Bought in ten ybs this week and have another ten to come. Everything will now go from 60 to 400 every week. Onwards and upwards.

I have to say Les that I am seriously considering going the same way, unless channel racing becomes easier again I think for many of us distance racing is finished 😔😔
