Nope, the red cock is gone. I had one arrive from yesterday's toss with nasty rips. Fortunately its to the chest, not the throat and crop, so he will recover, but he's gone from being one of the 'star' youngsters to really being useless. By the time he heals up we will be moved, and they are no good after being hit hard like that.
I also have one that has hit something and limps, and one that arrived home today after being out since yesterday. It's very tired. Flown a million miles.
So, after training 30 pigeons in two teams over two days, I am missing one, have one badly damaged, one mildly damaged, and one flown out. Oh, and I lost another one off the loft.
It's a great game alright.

We drove three and a half hours to town called Hamilton, down the south west of Victoria today, to look at a house.
We had never been there before, but the country down that part of the state is lovely. Rolling country with regular rainfall, very green and lots of trees. And as Catherine said, more sheep than we have ever seen in all our time in Australia.
The farms look well maintained and prosperous, with some big flocks of ewes with lambs at foot, lots of cattle, mainly Angus beef cattle, and some cropping farms with winter wheat coming up in fields that go out of sight!

Anyway, the house we went to look at was not quite "As described." Good little house, and we could have had it at a very good price, but the harder we looked at it the more it needed doing to it. So that's a no.
But we like the area. So we will keep looking.

And we took my old Holden car. It's a 2002 model, with the 3.8 litre V6 motor and auto. Yep, Jimmy is 21 this year! with 274,000 kilometres on the clock.
I had him serviced last week, oil change and filter, air filter, fresh coolant, spark plugs, new wiper arms and rear brake pads.
What a great old car! Drove about 400 miles today, on roads that varied from good main roads to pot holed goat tracks calling themselves main roads, through rain and fog and everything, he never missed a beat. The open road limit here is 100 kilometres an hour, except on freeways. Often I found myself going 110 or 120!

Lovely old car. I said to Catherine, I am going to spend a bit of money on this car.
She said."I thought you just did?"
I said I am going to get the stone chips on the front repainted, the gas struts on the bonnet replaced, the driver's seat recovered, just a few little bits and pieces.
It's a good car, but it's worth nothing. I will keep it and look after it. I could sell it for very little and buy something that isn't half as good.

170255 miles approximately what a great car what was the cost on that distance with a V6, shame about the house but sure you will find one that is just right

I put $95 worth in before we left, put $30 worth in when we stopped on the way back and still have half a tank. Probably cost about $80 for the trip? About 40 pounds. And I run the car on Premium which is 20 cents or about 10p a litre more than regular unleaded.
