Yes you can Dave but I don’t find that very successful if the iris is very full. Rather than putting these to a eye with lots of room you’ll probably put them to a weak eye and that pigeon probably won’t be any good. Those eyes are better for racing.

Yes, Mike has forgotten more about pigeons than most of us ever knew. He talks a great deal of common sense.
It puts me in mind of the great Aussie trainer Bart Cummings, who trained 13 Melbourne Cup winners and was and a legend of the Australian turf. His son Anthony was interviewed after a big win, and said "Dad taught me everything I know. But he didn't teach me everything he knows".
Some blokes just have a deeper understanding of the animals I think.

King, In the light of the current situation with house of aarden, I would argue that most pedigrees are "enhanced" in one way or another perhaps just with the odd "revelationary superbative words to make it sound that little bit better and then, most of the photos of the birds and their eyes on a pedigree or montages are all photo-shopped to also make it look that little bit better. There is bullshit involved whenever and wherever there are birds for sale.
IMO enhancing any element of a bird for sale is actually dishonest which probably covers about 95% of birds for sale today.

I'm sure your right Dave. There is bullshit involved whenever and wherever there are birds for sale. I did say a pedigree provided by an honest man though. I know many fanciers who are genuine, but most of them would give you a bird rather than sell you it.

By crikey that's the truth, king.
A bloke who wants to sell a bird will enhance the pedigree to emphasize the relationship to past good ones. I suppose that's understandable.
The one who has good pigeons and wants to see others do well with them, he'll give one to you.
I can talk, I've got a shed full of some of the best bred pigeons in Australia. All given to me by a man who for no reason has given me babies and eggs off the very best.
It's probably only me, but this makes me appreciate them as individuals rather than Dollar signs.

Absolutely right King, I only keep a few and most of them have been gift birds.
I've found it quite easy to recognise the bullshitters simply by what and how the pedigree is written.
The ones that piss me off the most are auctioneers who dont care what they are selling or who they sell to but then if people are so gullible to be taken in by it all, you could say they deserve what they get.
