Here's a hypothetical situation that I'd like members thoughts and opinions on please

Picture the scene

There's 15 members in your Club. You all fly on the same allotments in the same village

You all send to the same Club and you all send 20 birds per week

All of you are interested in sprint/middle distance races and you all want to win

So far, 8 races gone and the same guy on your allotments, sending the same number as you has won every race

What are your thoughts?

Is he a better pigeon man than you?

Has he just got better birds than you?

Has he another advantage over you (are his birds fitter / better motivated / healthier than yours?

And most importantly

What, if anything, are you gonna try and do about it ?

I am guessing he may have better birds but more likely, he would be putting more into it than what you are, training harder, feeding keener etc.o what are you going to do about it - that depends on your own motivation. Are you yourself competetive enough to want to do something about it.
Then ultimately, I guess it comes down to how much money and how much time you have to throw at it.

Better pigeons in better health I think but could be a bit of everything you list

To improve look at weakness in your stock and system of management and try to improve both

I would say, overall management of his loft. knowing his birds as individuals then looking at the following

Nutrition and additives for the birds.

Heath of the birds and treatment needed

Training of the birds.

Motivation and knowing they will work to the racing system

Preparation of birds for the upcoming race.

Planning ahead for next season, with a selection of new birds to enrich the blood in the loft.

It is definitely a combination of all those things, the quality of the stock, the stockmanship and dedication of the fancier, and motivation of both birds and fancier.
You get out of this game what you put in, if you want success you have to put in the hard yards !! The birds need to be from decent, proven stock, well fed, healthy, race fit, well motivated and I think they must have a love of their home, and you, their keeper.
So this really comes down to much time you are prepared to invest in them !!

My immediate response is he's a better pigeon man than you.
He's probably figured out how to get the loft right, knows how to feed, without being obsessed about it, and his pigeons trust him.
Greetings from the land down under. :D

Better all round pigeon man , the answer to compete with him look at what your doing and try changes feeding lighter , look at birds health and if nothing improves look for better birds than you have now they are probably not good enough
