I watched a video on this fancier, she spoke about the 11 feather Janssen birds from old mam Janssen not the brothers. And still today they breed 11 feather youngsters.

I believe Dave Thralls ace sprint breeding hen has 11 in each wing.
Mike will know more than me but I think she bred a fed winner in most rounds if not every from memory

11 flighted birds normally only have the extra feather in one wing. I don't think it's an advantage in any way, just a trait in some families.

You're right Neil

"Julia" was sold recently on Excelsior for 2700.00 and she was a right good breeding hen

Interestingly my old "Assassin" cock also had 11 in each wing too

I believe she was 8 when sold so decent price for a older hen

I wonder if 11 in one wing is a problem with balance when in flight rather than advantage compared to 11 in each

I doubt it Neil, birds when moulting don't often throw the same feather in each wing at the same time. Birds can have a dominant wing, or a bias to swerve left or right, so maybe an 11 flighted bird would have that wing more dominant?
Although when having a dropper it's always best having only one wing cut down, as birds with both sides cut can still get up and fly.
