It’s probably just as well that I can’t post videos on here, it can be seen on the Pipa website. It was disgusting and a disgrace to our sport. To have such a bad liberation, especially at this level with some of the best fanciers in the world racing some of the best pigeons in the world it should never have been allowed to happen. It would certainly put me off ever sending to an international again.
The lorries were parked on 3 sides of a car park. The car Park was full of cars. As the birds were released they flew into each other and flew into cars parked no more than a few feet from the lorries. There were dead or injured pigeons on the tarmac. I would be devastated if I was missing one of my top pigeons not knowing if it was one of the many that never stood a chance to even get away from the liberation site.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.

Disgusting really is, below is there comments

Reaction KBDB about release St. Vincent

The KBDB also reacted through its president Pascal Bodengien. "We are very disappointed with the departure of the international flight from St Vincent this morning. These are things we cannot tolerate under any circumstances. The unloading area had been occupied by cars of visitors to the local festival since yesterday. It was clearly impossible to clear the space. There would have been only one correct decision NOT to release the pigeons there and postpone unloading until the place was cleared or move to another place. We are therefore very disappointed with the attitude of the organiser 'Entente Belge'. Meanwhile, the KBDB has taken action to hold all actors involved accountable. After an evaluation, the necessary measures/sanctions will be taken in the short term," said KBDB president Pascal Bodengien.
Release from the French Pigeon Fanciers' Federation

On Sunday 16 July 2023, the FCF was stunned to discover the conditions in which the Saint-Vincent International pigeon release took place, after having been questioned about the preparations for the competition and inappropriate behaviour in the days leading up to it.
The Saint-Vincent release site, which is usually used for releasing pigeons, was occupied all weekend by a large number of motorists, many of them drunk, who had come to take part in the local festivities in Tyrosse. The lorries were surrounded by cars, making it impossible to open the site in optimum conditions and with respect for the pigeons.
The FCF release agent and the competition organiser knew about this situation as soon as the pigeons arrived on site. The CWF regrets not having been informed, like the RFCB, of this situation: it would have been possible to move the lorries to a suitable location.
From 9am on Sunday, the CWF and the RFCB discussed this lack of communication. A working meeting will be organised this week to ensure that procedures are improved, both on the part of the organisers and the FCF controllers.

Yes well done to all those fanciers who got birds home, some outstanding performances. I see there are a few familiar names in there again including some local fanciers in Fred Hall (a former Worthing and District H.S member) Dave Farr from Bognor and Pete McMahon from Brighton.
Congratulations to Paul Basham who had a very good day as he was also 1st open CSCFC from Bordeaux and 3rd Open BBC in the same race.

Good to see that it is going to be investigated as this kind of thing will do nothing but harm to our sport 😡🤬😡
Unfortunately its getting to be like so many other sports, more about the money than anything else !!

I'm afraid I think this happens far too often and many of our birds suffer injuries on liberation, there was a liberation filmed last season where some birds had obviously hit something behind the person filming as after feathers started falling him filming suddenly stopped !!
Some liberation sites just aren't fit for purpose and on most transporters these days the bottom baskets are far too low. I also don't know why all transporters these days don't have roller shutters so only one row are liberated at a time, some fanciers may argue that it gives those at the bottom an unfair advantage as they are out fastest but it really is only few seconds before all birds are out and those first birds would still be circling before the last are out. We have this set up on the North Road Federation lorry and you can clearly see from the videos they have posted of our liberations that the birds don't hit the ground and within seconds all the birds are out.

That's just shocking.
With the cost of training and entering pigeons in those Internationals, to see them smashed at the start because of incompetence, well heads need to roll.
I agree with you all. This is just fuel for those who are looking for reasons to shut us down.
Greetings from the land down under. :D
