Yb training

We have 8 combine races if going with the WOESRC. 4 are from Stoney Cross 34 miles. 2 from Chale 57 miles and 2 from Brighton 102 miles and that’s it. I’m not really interested in young bird racing as there’s very little chance of me doing much from such short distances. It’s even worse this year than previous years. I can’t see this program doing mine any good.

I think I would send to Brighton but it’s awful way to enjoy your hobby
These wide feds are just daft only a quarter of the convoy can win
But I guess less fanciers means it’s got to happen

I guess it all depends on where your priorities lie

My feelings are this

If you want to win with YB then getting them a full and thorough training is a MUST.

If you're not training YB and you're winning then to be honest there's not a good YB flier racing against you

Even if you're not that bothered about YB racing I feel the more education you can give a youngster the better

What animal/species/person doesn't excel from being taught good habits in their youth?

The acknowledged top young bird racers in every district are the blokes who put the time and effort into training them. Homing is instinctive. Racing has to be taught.
And the notion that you can send young birds to a race and not care about winning is totally strange to me. I am pacing up and down wearing a hole in the lawn.....

To me it's all about stepping stones in life, every task is important to show the youngsters true ability. But training needs to be paramount, it's all about training to win,

I've found in these wide feds if the wind is below 10mph u can pull good birds n get good results against the odds the dummy's go past but there dummy's the good ones seem to be OK, if wind is say 13mph n over ya pissing in the wind with top pigeons ,,this is from my experience in them feds.

It you have 2/3 partners it’s easy on your own and working impossible I think
I notice some people just race a big team of ybs and don’t bother with old birds to make things easier
I would rather peck up if I couldn’t race old ones

I be honest Neil I never care what others do I couldn't care if they had 350 each they have to feed n send em pal ,all I know is more you have the less enjoyable it becomes,
