I don't start to about month before racing but some times I will toss 10 times in one day n toss regularly mine might get from 1st July until last race between 80 n 100 plus tosses .
Just wondering, about this point you made here, how far are you taking them? And do you have to alter the feeding when training this much?
Be hard for sure ,big teams are hard to race I've tried 60 n failed prefer less so things done correctly n not rushed.
I think it’s circumstances
It you have 2/3 partners it’s easy on your own and working impossible I think
I notice some people just race a big team of ybs and don’t bother with old birds to make things easier
I would rather peck up if I couldn’t race old ones
I be honest Neil I never care what others do I couldn't care if they had 350 each they have to feed n send em pal ,all I know is more you have the less enjoyable it becomes,
I agree. I have been racing just 10 widowhood cocks this year and are finding it much more enjoyable than when I was racing 3 x that number on natural. I only have a team of 15 youngsters but will breed a few late breds once the old birds have finished. I don’t have any stock birds. I only need 4 young cocks left at present and the young hens will be kept depending on their breeding.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.

When you say you only need 4 is that after severe killing or you have 4 box’s spare

Yes Neil I admit that that is the number of boxes I have spare at the moment. 5 of the 8 cocks I have here have all been first bird this year. 2 of the other 3 haven’t been far behind. 1 has been only beaten by a loft mate on two occasions. I know they’re not setting the world on fire but fairly happy with them at present. They haven’t had the chance to prove anything yet. If I feel some aren’t worth keeping at the end of the year they will go even if leaving empt6 perches.

I've found in these wide feds if the wind is below 10mph u can pull good birds n get good results against the odds the dummy's go past but there dummy's the good ones seem to be OK, if wind is say 13mph n over ya pissing in the wind with top pigeons ,,this is from my experience in them feds.
Makes sense that
I guess being so spread out helps a bit from individual lofts be crap in a wide fed against say a top fancier with 80 away each week in the prevailing wind
Be hard for sure ,big teams are hard to race I've tried 60 n failed prefer less so things done correctly n not rushed.
I agree Tony. When we were Worcester Federation Champions I was racing 16 cocks and 35 yb.
This was in a 47 club Federation that could send up to 10,000 birds a week.
I used to love being surrounded by fanciers who had 4-5-6-7 times as many baskets as I had.
I just used to smile to myself and think "Are they giving all them the same attention to detail that these are having".
The most enjoyment I ever had was in New Zealand when I had my small widowhood loft with 9 boxes in it. Of course they were winning races which always makes it more fun.
Greetings from the land down under.
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for verily, he shall not be disappointed.
