Observation at all times

To be honest mate, I don't have a clue what any of that means, the only bit I know is when they go off clapping,
I know nothing about small circles, disappearing, flying high and flying low. My idea of observation while they are flying is to just sit and enjoy them and I have missed doing that while I am scraping out.
I would love to know more about these things if any one would be kind enough to enlighten me.

Typically Dave pigeons that are reluctant to get up high are suffering from some kind of respiratory ailment

Have to agree with that Devo. Since the change of circs regarding my loft, I have been scraping out every day and I am loving the change in the birds response to me especially in the y.birds - as many of you guys suggested would happen.
However, it has its down side too coz while I am cleaning out ( just over an hour) I am not able to observe my racers loft flying. So this thread has made me realise that I need to change my routine in some way.

I wouldn’t never be in the loft why my cocks fly I’m watching every movement they make how they fly , is it circles is it straight is it low is it high are they breaking or staying as a group , how many mins there out of sight

I dunno if it's the country air or being able to fly them early in the morning or what it is, but I have ample time to scrape out, sweep the loft, change a nest bowl or two, feed the small youngsters, feed the stock birds and go inside and make another coffee before I even see my pigeons. Most days they vanish the moment I let them out and don't reappear for half an hour, only to swoop over and away again for another 20 or 30 minutes.
I wish I had pigeons that were as fit as these when I was racing in Bendigo. I used to watch them flying and think how great they were going. I can't watch them here, I hardly ever see them.

Thanks Neil, I am not a novice and have had a few half decent results more by luck than judgement. I came to racing a bit later in life but have had many distractions due to "life" getting in the way.
I kept them.as a kid for a short while but didnt have that same apprenticeship that you must've had.
I've kept them for a while now but have never had a mentor as such and sites like this and the old pigeon chat have probably saved me many years in what I have learnt and why I am eternally grateful to you guys for your support.

You're far too modest Neil, even your rare forays into Distance racing have proved a hell of a lot more fruitful than many who are obsessed with that form of racing
